THE INSTITUT INTERNATIONAL DE LA MARIONNETTE IS SEEKING A DIRECTOR (M/F)
The IIM, an internationally oriented institution, has been participating in the development of puppetry arts since its creation in 1981. It has developed its activities around two sectors: the sector for professional training (ESNAM – Ecole nationale supérieure des arts de la marionnette, the National School for higher education in puppetry arts for initial training, professional continuing education workshops and professional integration programmes) and the sector for Research and documentation (a documentation and resource centre, reception of researchers in residence, coordination of the Puppetry Arts Portal, publications, exhibitions and a patrimonial collection). The Institut International de la Marionnette is funded by the Ministries of Culture and of Communication, the Champagne-Ardenne/Orcca Region, the Ardennes County Council and the City of Charleville-Mézières.
Duties
Managing and continuing with the development of the institution in all its activities, while maximizing financial, logistic and human resources.
Drawing up, implementing and overseeing the School’s educational project whilst taking into consideration the new location, the evolution of the diploma and possible modifications in the rhythm of recruitment of first-year students.
Developing a plan for occupational integration and professional continuing education, organizing its implementation in association with administrative and professional partners.
Reinforcing the spread and influence of the Research and documentation sector in all its components.
Striving for the establishment and development of outreach initiatives and resources in partnership with the World festival of Puppet Theatres in view of creating a puppetry referent nucleus at territorial, national and international levels.
Leading a team of 14 permanent staff members and around thirty regular or occasional guest instructors in a year.
Profile and experience
A confirmed professional, an artist or specialized in a cultural field, s/he has extensive knowledge of puppetry arts and the issues connected with initial and/or professional training. S/he shows particular interest in research and is conversant with the contemporary stage and more generally with the visual arts and their aesthetic aims. Accordingly, s/he is a recognized interlocutor in the French and international professional network.
The candidate is experienced in management, endowed with interpersonal skills and has displayed dynamism and an aptitude for stimulating multidisciplinary teams.
S/he masters computer software, speaks fluent French and English. Mastery of other languages (Spanish, German or another) would be a plus.
Terms of employment and remuneration
Full-time permanent contract (CDI), based in Charleville-Mézières (France).
Assumption of duties: 2 June 2014
Remuneration on the basis of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (Convention Collective) for Live Performance.
